    Spectrum allocation determines what blocks of frequencies are used for what specific purpose under a set of technical and operational rules. For example, spectrum managers in some countries have allocated to MHz band (a.k.a. MHz band) for mobile services that eventually became 4G/LTE mobile broadband. Before October , the CMRS industry had sought to have spectrum from throughout the MHz band reallocated to commercial service. The CMRS industry did, however, support NTIA’s decision to focus its viability assessment on MHz in October

    determining the price for spectrum in the MHz band. Based on this approach the price for spectrum in the MHz band was set at per MHz frequency pair, which was approved at a subsequent meeting of the ECTEL Board. Over the past several years, a number of applications for MHz spectrum were received by NTRCs. A spectrum resource assessment of the MHz frequency band is given. Included is information on allocations, technical standards, frequency assignments and system characteristics.

The Spectrum Resource Assessment (SRA) is an integral part of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), Office of Spectrum Management (OSM) long-range planning process related to national and international interests that focus on radio frequency spectrum topics.

The SRA includes a description of the current Federal Government spectrum use of the MHz and. will relocate to another band or will compress operations into the MHz portion of the band. The FCC’s rules also provide for indefinite sharing between AWS-3 licenses and a limited number of federal systems.
